New Google Browser - Chrome

September 2nd, 2008 by Scott Wood

Google have finally lifted the lid on their new Web Browser, which is set for the afternoon today. Dubbed “Chrome”, the highly aniticpated browser, said to be a potential rival to the popular Firefox and Internet Explorer has already been seen as a huge blow to Microsoft’s waning search marketshare.

Up until now, Google has avoiding joining the browser war, but comes in at a time when Microsoft is seen to be on the backfoot, and the arrival of Chrome has the potential to split the browser war right open again.
The browser offers some intuitive features :

- A tab bar above the address bar.
- It lets you fire up Web apps without the toolbar and menus.
- There are thumbnails that show recently visited sites, for easy return clicks.
- Simple “google like” design.
- Inter-functionality with other google products.
- In built phishing protection
As Google’s global reach and market share increases by the day, will this be a final nail in the coffin for Microsoft’s Internet Explorer? Or will Google find themselves spread too thin against the already well established leading browsers? The verdict will be out by the close of the day, i will definately downloading my taking a look to see whether we have a new firefox.
