Video Marketing – Does it really work?

A number of our clients have asked about video marketing and whether or not it would benefit their business. I will attempt to explain exactly what video marketing would consist of, and how it could potentially benefit driving traffic to a website.

An increasingly popular method of generating visitors to your site can be through creating videos and linking back to your site. You can do this with a backlink embedded in the video itself, or within the video description. Video giants, like Youtube will allow backlinks within the video descriptions and is a great way to drive some free traffic back to your site.

Popular video types include:

- Instructional videos (cooking, DIY, how-to, guides etc)
- Comedy
- Sport
- Music related
- Adult

If you are looking to promote a video site you need to think carefully about what type of video you aim to produce, and will it be popular? Try looking at some of the most popular videos for a search term within Youtube, and see if you can find out why it is so popular. If you can make those unique videos that catch peoples attention, whether it be shocking, funny or scary you will see your visitor numbers skyrocket.
